Auf goldenem Grund

For the period of one year, the exhibition of gold-ground painting was complemented by the loan of important Italian panel paintings from the Lindenau Museum in Altenburg (Thuringia).

In 1843 Bernhard August von Lindenau acquired three 14th-century Florentine devotional paintings which now supplement the existing ensemble of masterpieces by Giotto and his successors. All graphic work, such as the labelling of the exhibits, posters outside and advertising material was designed to convey information about these paintings.
